I can't believe that I've basically finished my undergraduate life (albeit one more report).
My thesis defence didn't go so well I'm a little depressed. My thesis was in English, but my defence was in Japanese so there was a huuuge language barrier. My brain just refused to function. I wasn't able to answer much of the questions clearly because (1) I couldn't understand the question, (2) I couldn't structure my Japanese enough to be able to answer with any level of coherence.
So. One thing I realized is that, even though I'm confident with my day-to-day Japanese, I still need to work on it a LOT to get it up to par on the academic level.
Oh. But there was no particular problem with my thesis itself, so I think it was okay. I think. Anyway, I have to go back into that room and listen to other people defending their own theses.
Not through violence, but through the word alone

8 hours clocked in.
I'm trapped in the University computer lab!!!!
No, not really. I self-kidnapped myself to make sure that I would finish at least half of this report by tomorrow. How exactly am I supposed to write a report on Education in the Medieval Era if all I brought with me were my books and not my notes!!!! I can't believe I totally forgot to bring them with me.
What I could have done was go back home this afternoon, picked up my notes and then brought them back up with me, but noooo... I decided to wing it, and now look at where I am! Only 3 paragraphs in and 8 hours on this seat. Okay, so I may not have been sitting the whole 8 hours (that would be insane) but I have been at this a while.
I love the hour I spent reading up on how difficult it is to figure out the exact literacy rate in the medieval ages... I should have just noted down the fact that it was difficult to place a number instead of looking for A Number.
Note to self: Don't try to look for things that aren't there. Use what you have that's within your grasp.
I was finally able to write down some more after this epiphany. I really could have used it a few hours ago.
Anyway. I'm not going to continue this any further - I'm going home like a good student. I'll do some yoga, some cleaning, some cooking, some eating, and then, I'll start on this again.
My eyes are tired.
Note to self: Study smart. Or be creative when doing research.
It's always more profitable (to mind, body and spirit). Nothing good happens for being too persistant in searching for data that isn't there!!
